Maintenance of the brook is undertaken by The Bedford Group of Internal Drainage Boards. Maintenance is usually carried out each year between April and July.

The work is carried out in line with the Drainage Board’s remit under the Land Drainage Act, which gives it permissive powers to remove obstructions from a watercourse and to deposit them on the adjacent banks.  Grass and other vegetation cuttings will naturally decompose, but disposal of any other debris is the responsibility of each individual riparian owner; in this case each individual house owner whose property backs onto the watercourse.
